Project Manager & Legal Expert

Roxanne Alam

Roxanne Alam is a notary with la Chambre des notaires du Québec and a legal professional with over 5 years of experience. She has worked with governmental agencies in order to help shape legislation and policy surrounding International human rights, Indigenous issues and Copyright. In the private sector, she has worked in a wide array of areas such as litigation, environmental law, intellectual property law, notarial law and agricultural law.

Having acquired most of her experience in Quebec, a Canadian province that has both common and civil law embedded in its legal system, she is a jurist that navigates both legal systems habitually. This comparative legal approach as well as her complete bilingualism in English and in French, allow her to be a versatile member of the team.

She simultaneously completed her Juris Doctor (J.D.) and her License in Civil Law (L.L.L.) at the University of Ottawa and subsequently got her Masters in Notarial law (L.L.M.) at the Université de Sherbrooke. This coupled with her Bachelor’s from McGill University in Sociology and International Development allows her to approach our projects with a combined legal and sociological perspective. She speaks English, French, Spanish and Bengali.
